Personal Care Services?

Personal care services as the name suggests are services that assist with care for a person with specific needs. These specific needs can be disabilities and chronic conditions that can hinder a person’s ability to perform certain tasks. By providing personal care services these tasks can be done with some guidance or even help.

What are some Personal Care Services?

  • Meal Preparation( Especially useful for patients that must follow a prescribed diet )
  • Toileting
  • Grooming, Bathing and Dressing
  • Medication Reminders and assistance
  • General assistance in home
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Light House cleaning
  • Transferring

To be more specific the goal of these services is to help with activities of daily living (ADLs) or instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). ADLs are activities a beneficiary engages in to meet important needs on a daily basis, such as eating, dressing, bathing, ambulation, and transfers from one position to another. IADLs are day-to-day tasks that allow an individual to live independently but are not considered necessary for fundamental daily functioning such as meal preparation, light housework, hygiene, and shopping for food and clothing.
